Over 62 million people live in rural America. The term rural is from the Latin word ruralis and translates to “country”; so that means that 20% of our nation is country. The Census Bureau defines rural as any area not included in an urban area.
Community Health Needs Assessment
Under the Affordable Care Act, not-for-profit hospitals must conduct a Community Health Needs Assessment at least once every three years in order to assess community need and annually file information (by means of Schedule H, Form 990) regarding progress toward addressing identified needs.
